In recent weeks, the Israeli military has intensified its use of a new type of self-exploding drones kamikaze to target tents and schools in Gaza. Al Jazeera’s fact-checking agency, SANAD, documented the use of these drones in five separate targeted operations in April. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 30 Palestinians, including children.

Israel is planning to restrict how food aid is delivered in Gaza, according to leaked documents. Under the proposed plan, American companies would take over distribution from the UN and humanitarian groups. Aid would be managed by an international foundation and limited to one parcel per family each week at designated hubs. Only 60 trucks a day would be allowed—far less than needed. Humanitarian agencies and the UN have rejected the plan, calling it a form of pressure and control that could worsen an already dire crisis.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo asked the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General for a response to Israel's expansion of operations in Gaza.

Israel’s cabinet approves a full military occupation of Gaza, sparking fears of displacement as reservists are called up and pressure grows over Israeli captives.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that a new offensive in the besieged Gaza Strip will be an intensive military operation aimed at defeating Hamas, but stopped short of detailing just how much of the enclave’s territory would be seized.
In a Hebrew-language video message on X, addressing the Security Cabinet-approved plan to expand the Gaza offensive, Netanyahu said on Monday that Gaza’s Palestinian population “will be moved, for its own protection”.
Netanyahu’s cabinet unanimously approved plans to call up reservists and put the Israeli military in charge of food and other vital supplies to the 2 million people suffering under its blockade of the Palestinian territory.
While Netanyahu again asserted that the goal was to “defeat” Hamas and bring back several dozen captives held in Gaza, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, an Israeli campaign group, said in a statement on Monday that the plan is “sacrificing” those still held in the Palestinian territory.
