The Clarion Call reacts to Captain Beefheart's, Moonlight on Vermont from Trout Mask Replica (1969)

This may be the most accessible song on probably the most inaccessible album ever. Recorded in August of 1968, 6 months before the rest of the classic album Trout Mask Replica, it shows the evolution of the Captain's music.
Perhaps a play on the lovely ballad, "Moonlight in Vermont, "this song is everything that song is not, including a rocking blues beat, screeching guitars and the Captain's growling vocals.
The song also samples two other songs, the old Negro spiritual, "Give me that old time religion," and the 1966 experimental song, "Come out" by Steve Reich.
The 13 minute original "Come on" can be found here:

For this reaction, I used Ant 2 Man Bee's 2022 remix of the original song. That and many other wonderful things can be found at his channel here:

I recently updated my March 2024 Substack article about the Captain here:

P.S. Yes I know the audio on my voice goes from bad to horrible. Don't bother telling me. I am already sick about it!
