O Jesus, Eternal High Priest, Who established Thy Church upon Peter, the Rock, preserve us in the unity of Faith amidst a sea of confusion. Enlighten our minds, strengthen our wills, and purify our hearts as we confront the hidden forces that seek to pervert truth and dissolve tradition. May the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your Mother, intercede for us. Amen.
Segment One: What is the Alta Vendita?
Today we discuss one of the most sobering and disturbing documents ever written against the Catholic Church the Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita, a strategy formulated by the Italian Carbonari, a branch of Freemasonry, in the early 19th century. This wasn't about a violent overthrow of the Church. No, it was far more subtle and insidious.
The Alta Vendita was the "high lodge" of the Carbonari. Their plan was not to destroy the Church from the outside but to corrupt her from within, gradually and invisibly, over the course of generations.
The document stated:
“In a hundred years’ time… the little finger of the successor of Peter will be involved in the ploys of the revolution, and he will be traveling under the banner of the revolution in the triple tiara and cape… you will have preached a revolution in tiara and cope, marching with the cross and banner a revolution that needs only to be slightly goaded to set fire to the four corners of the world.”
The aim was clear: not to convert the Pope to Masonry, but to raise a Pope decades or centuries later who would unknowingly serve their purpose. This, they believed, would be the masterstroke: a revolution cloaked in sacred vestments.
Papal Warnings and Official Response
This plan was not brushed off as nonsense. In fact, Pope Pius IX had the Permanent Instruction published in 1859. He saw it for what it was: a real and present danger. And later, Pope Leo XIII, in his 1884 encyclical Humanum Genus, reaffirmed the Church’s condemnation of Freemasonry:
“Let no man think he may for any reason join the Masonic sect, if he values his Catholic name and his eternal salvation as he ought to value them.”
Irish theologian Msgr. George Dillon, at the request of faithful clergy, published The War of Antichrist with the Church and Christian Civilization, which included the entire text of the Alta Vendita. This wasn’t hidden this was a spiritual emergency.
The Alta Vendita plainly said:
“The task we are to undertake is not the work of a day, a month, or a year. It may last many years, a century perhaps… What we must do is to lay the foundation for a future generation.”
And when we look around today… we can only ask: has that generation arrived?
Did the Plan Succeed?
Consider the present condition of the Church:
• In 2019, a Pew Research study found 70% of U.S. Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
• The Novus Ordo Mass though valid was radically altered, emphasizing community over sacrifice.
• We see ecumenism devoid of evangelization, and a tolerance of error that would’ve shocked prior generations.
• Many clergy today speak in ambiguous terms about grave sins: contraception, same-sex unions, indifferentism all while invoking "pastoral care."
These aren’t random changes. They're symptoms of a deep ideological infiltration the fruit of decades of slow-motion subversion.
Saint Pius X, in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, warned:
“Modernists apply to the Church the law of evolution… thus the Church must evolve with the world and change her doctrine.”
He called Modernism “the synthesis of all heresies.”
He didn’t live to see Vatican II, but his warnings were prophetic. The revolution in tiara and cope has become a daily reality.

Voices of Resistance
But God is never without His prophets.
• Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, founder of the Society of St. Pius X, denounced the post-Conciliar changes as a “liberal, Masonic revolution in tiara and cope.”
• Fr. Malachi Martin, former Jesuit and Vatican insider, exposed the spiritual warfare inside the Church in books like The Jesuits and Windswept House.
• Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò continues to warn the faithful of a counterfeit Church, built not on Revelation, but on humanism and globalism.
Fr. Malachi Martin wrote:
“They wanted to remake the Church into a humanist institution, one that preaches progress, not redemption; social change, not conversion.”
Archbishop Viganò has said:
“There is a plan to build not the Kingdom of Christ, but a Masonic, humanitarian universal republic. The Synod is not Catholic it is the capstone.”

These men were ridiculed. But they were also right.
What Can We Do?
First, recognize this is not a political battle. It is a spiritual war. We’re not helpless.
Action Steps:
• Confession, prayer, and especially the Rosary. Sister Lucia of Fatima called it the final weapon.
• Attend the Traditional Latin Mass, where reverence and truth are preserved.
• Educate your children using the Baltimore Catechism, lives of the saints, and pre-Vatican II Church teachings.
• Read for yourself: The Permanent Instruction, Humanum Genus, Pascendi, The Jesuits.
• Reject false obedience if a priest, bishop, or even pope commands something contrary to the Faith, you must obey God, not man.
St. Athanasius, during the Arian crisis, said:
“They may have the churches, but we have the faith.”

The battle is real, but so is the victory. Our Lady of Fatima promised:
“In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

O God of Truth and Justice, who established Your Church upon the rock of Peter, grant that we may remain faithful through every trial. Deliver us from the snares of the enemy, and through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, expose and expel the darkness that has entered Your sanctuary. Grant us holy courage, perfect fidelity, and the joy of eternal victory in Christ.
