Do Fans Want to See Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia Rematch?
According to boxing fans, the Fatal Fury fight cards this past weekend were terrible. Teofimo vs. Arnold Barbosa was mid-level at best. It was a decent fight, and Teofimo showed his athleticism against an overly-matched opponent in Barboza. But the fight was mid at best.
Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez did not live up to the hype people expected. We heard about the new and improved Devin Haney and his addition of Sugar Shane Mosley to his camp.
We heard about Devin Haney stepping out of his comfort zone and moving his training camp to Big Bear, California, but something seemed different on the night of the fight.
Devin Haney appeared overly cautious at times, and some would say he looked scared. Since Devin Haney trained with Sugar Shane Mosley for this fight, I was expecting a Sugar Shane style.
But that wasn't the case. Jose Ramirez looked old and washed up. He didn't know how to cut the ring off. Devin Haney moved laterally throughout the entire fight. Critics say Haney was running.
Haney fans say Devin showed the sweet science. Either way, the fight didn't live up to the fans' expectations. This was the co-main event in the lead-up to Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero's fight.
Speaking of Ryan Garcia. He looks a lot different without that Ostarine. The drug cheat himself proved that he couldn't win without his special sauce. Rolly Romero out-boxed Queen Ry for 12 rounds.
Although Ryan was a heavy favorite to win, he was no match for the crayon-eating Rolly Romero. Rolly caught Ryan on the chin in the second round with a double left hook that floored him to the canvas.
After that knockdown, Ryan was finished. He kept trying to land the left hook, but Rolly always counters Garcia. That made Ryan reluctant to throw it. Rolly Romero is a far superior fighter than Ryan.
Ryan Garcia proved to be trash and a worse fighter than Rolly. Now that the bigoted drug cheat has been exposed for the fraud he is, he can go back to modeling and selling selfie sticks on TikTok and Instagram.
Maybe Ryan can go back to doing the body shot challenge. As for boxing, Oscar Dela Hoya needs to put Garcia back in the Golden Boy witness protection program and keep him away from elite fighters.
Without the PEDS, Ryan Garcia is just another trash fighter. Now, on to Canelo vs. William Skull. Canelo won by unanimous decision over Skull to become the two-time undisputed champion.
For some reason, it doesn't feel like it. Fans say this fight was a dud, very similar to Haney vs. Ramirez. Per CompuBox, Canelo landed 56 of 152 punches, and William Skull landed 55 of 293 punches.
As you can see, William Skull threw 141 more punches than Canelo. William Skull fought Canelo the same way Devin fought Ramirez. The exciting part of the event came when Terence Crawford stepped into the ring to announce the Canelo vs Crawford fight officially.
Hopefully, this fight lives up to the hype. In other news, Top Rank saved the weekend! Their fight card was everything the fans wanted it to be and more. Inoue vs Cardenas was exciting.
After Cardenas scored a 2nd round knockdown with a counter left hook, Inoue got back up to finish the round. As the fight continued, Inoue kept his same aggressive style, ensuring that he did not get caught with the left hook again.
Cardenas was also doing great work in the ring, but Inoue's jab proved to be the difference-maker in this fight. Inoue can get sloppy at times by taking calculated risks.
But it is what makes Inoue special. Like Tito Trinidad, when Inoue gets knocked down, he finds a way to get back up and finish his opponents. At 32 years old, with a record of 30-0 with 27 knockouts, this dude is special.
Inoue scored his first knockdown in the seventh round, catching Cardenas in the corner and dropping him after landing four consecutive rights. In the 8th round, Inoue scored a knockout via stoppage by the ref.
Inoue landed double-digit unanswered punches before the referee stopped the fight. A boxing fan on X who goes by the name of Pure Combat Sports said it best;
Inoue could've just switched to boxing on the outside, played it safe, and easily outpointed his opponent. He could have gotten on his bike like Shakur, Haney, and Scull did or shut down as Ryan Garcia did, but he didn't because, unlike them, he's a real warrior 🥊end quote.
I would add that Inoue knows how to cut off the ring if a fighter tries to run or not engage. Top Rank saved boxing for the weekend.
As for Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia. Haney vs Ramirez set the record for the fewest punches thrown in a fight.
Rolly Romero exposed Ryan Garcia. Do fans want to see the rematch between Haney and Garcia? Let's talk about it.
