Exodus 15

The Song of Moses (v.1–18):

A powerful hymn of praise exalting God for defeating Egypt.

Key themes include:

God’s power: “The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea.”

God as warrior: The Lord is a man of war who defeated Pharaoh’s army.

God’s majesty and uniqueness: “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods?”

God’s guidance: He leads His people with steadfast love to His holy dwelling.

God’s eternal reign: “The Lord will reign forever and ever.”

Miriam’s Song and Dance (v.19–21):

Miriam the prophetess, Moses’ sister, leads the women in a refrain of the song with tambourines and dancing.

They echo the theme: “Sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously!”

Bitter Water at Marah (v.22–27):

After the victory, Israel travels into the wilderness of Shur.

They find bitter water at Marah and grumble against Moses.

God shows Moses a piece of wood, which he throws into the water, making it sweet.

God then gives a test and promise: If Israel obeys Him, He will be their healer.

They later arrive at Elim, a place of refreshing, with 12 springs and 70 palm trees.

Praise and Worship:

God’s people respond to deliverance with joyful singing and thanksgiving.

God’s Power Over Enemies:

God is not only Savior but also Victor, destroying the mightiest army to defend His people.

God’s Guidance and Faithfulness:

He not only rescues, but also leads His people with love and purpose.

Testing and Provision:

After triumph comes testing. God uses trials to teach dependence and show His ability to provide.

Healing and Obedience:

God reveals Himself as Jehovah-Rapha (The Lord Who Heals You), linking healing with trust and obedience.

Application Points:
Don’t forget to praise after victory—worship acknowledges God’s role in your success.

God deserves our trust, not just when He delivers us, but also when He tests us.

Celebrate God’s character—He is mighty, loving, and faithful to His promises.

When facing bitterness in life, ask God to sweeten it with His presence and power.

God brings you to refreshing places (like Elim) after hardship—rest in Him.
