God’s Strategic Plan (v.1–4):

God tells Moses to camp near the Red Sea.

He intentionally leads them to a vulnerable position to provoke Pharaoh.

God plans to gain glory over Pharaoh so that Egypt will know He is the Lord.

Pharaoh’s Pursuit (v.5–9):

Pharaoh regrets letting the Israelites go and mobilizes his army to chase them.

He brings 600 elite chariots and all his other forces.

The Egyptian army overtakes the Israelites near the sea.

The Israelites Panic (v.10–12):

Seeing Pharaoh’s army, the Israelites are terrified and cry out to Moses.

They complain, saying they were better off as slaves in Egypt than to die in the wilderness.

Moses’ Words of Faith (v.13–14):

Moses tells the people:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance of the Lord.”
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

The Miracle at the Sea (v.15–31):

God tells Moses to stretch out his staff over the sea, and the waters part.

The pillar of cloud moves between the Israelites and the Egyptians, protecting God’s people.

The Israelites pass through the sea on dry ground with walls of water on both sides.

The Egyptian army pursues, but God throws them into confusion and closes the sea over them.

Not one of them survives.

The Israelites witness this and fear and trust the Lord, and believe in Moses as His servant.

Key Themes:
God’s Sovereignty and Glory:

God orchestrates events not just for deliverance but to display His power and glory.

Faith vs. Fear:

The Israelites waver in fear, but God calls them to trust and be still.

Divine Deliverance:

God does what no human can—He makes a way where there is none.

Victory Through God, Not Ourselves:

“The Lord will fight for you” reminds us that our victories come through His strength.

Transformation of Belief:

Witnessing God’s power leads Israel to deeper faith in Him and Moses.

Application Points:
Trust God’s plan even when it feels like you’re trapped—He may be setting the stage for a miracle.

Don’t let fear silence your faith. God specializes in making a way through the impossible.

Stand firm—let God fight your battles. Sometimes, obedience simply means staying calm and trusting.

Remember what God has done—faith is built by remembering His faithfulness.

God delivers for His glory and our good—our story is part of His greater purpose.
