Pythagoras of Samos

Pythagoras was an ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician best known for the Pythagorean Theorem in geometry. However, his influence extended far beyond mathematics. He founded a religious and philosophical movement known as Pythagoreanism, which combined mathematics, music, cosmology, ethics, and spiritual beliefs. Pythagoreans believed in the transmigration of souls (reincarnation), the divine harmony of the cosmos, and that number is the fundamental principle of all reality. He is often regarded as a mystic, a moral reformer, and a proto-scientist.
