Lapu Lapu festival tragedy: How Vancouver’s Filipino community is being supported

Eleven people were killed and dozens more injured when an SUV allegedly drove into a crowd of people at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival in South Vancouver Saturday April 25, 2025.

Vancouver Police say 13 people are currently being treated in hospital.

The province declared Friday, May 2 an official day of remembrance for the victims, with masses and vigils taking place throughout the weekend. A space where victims, families and those who are having a hard time dealing in the wake of the brutal and fatal incident has been opened in Vancouver.
