The North Sea pulled me under today, and I’m still catching my breath. I’m settled in UniTrench’s underwater base, surrounded by the hum of pipes and pumps. Tim’s voice came over the radio, guiding me through my first jobs. I took Moon, my sub, out past coral reefs that pulse with color, like they’re alive. My work’s clear: check pipelines, patch leaks, keep the oil rigs humming. I swam into a wreck, its rusted guts lit by my torch, and scavenged algae and plastic for oxygen sticks. The ocean’s beautiful, but it’s stirring something deep in me. I’ve been diving for UniTrench for years, trying to escape a loss that won’t let go. Down here, alone, it feels closer than ever. This sea’s not just a workplace. It’s got a hold on me.
