India vs Pakistan: Who Would Win a War?

Two nuclear powers. 75 years of tension. But who would actually win in a war — India or Pakistan?

India has a massive advantage in manpower.
India fields 1.45 million active troops.
Pakistan? Just 654,000.
In tanks, India has nearly double — 4,700 vs Pakistan’s 2,400.

In the skies, India also dominates.
India has over 600 combat aircraft, including Su-30MKIs, Rafales, and Mirage 2000s.
Pakistan counters with around 350 — mostly F-16s and JF-17s.

At sea, the gap is even wider.
India operates 150+ naval vessels, including 1 aircraft carrier and 10 destroyers.
Pakistan has fewer than 50 major warships — no carriers, no destroyers.

But nuclear doctrine changes everything.
Pakistan has around 165 warheads and follows a “first-use” policy.
India, with ~170 warheads, maintains “no first use” — but has longer-range missiles like the Agni-V.

Geography favors India too — surrounding Pakistan on three sides.
India’s “Cold Start” doctrine is built for rapid strikes.
Pakistan counters with “full-spectrum deterrence” — escalate fast or risk collapse.

Globally, India has deep ties with the U.S., France, and Israel.
Pakistan leans on China and Gulf states, but with less strategic depth.
In total war, global alliances could tip the balance even further.

On paper, India wins.
But in reality, any war could trigger a nuclear exchange — and no one survives that.

What’s the real path forward — peace or escalation?
