Est 4:15
Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai,

Est 4:16
"Go, assemble all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maidens also will fast in the same way. And thus I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish."

Est 4:17
So Mordecai went away and did just as Esther had commanded him.

Esther wanted the people to fast for her for three days and nights. She wanted them to beseech God, but she still doesn't pray or ask for prayer. All of these people are outside the will of God. It is very difficult to pray to God when you are out of His will. Jonah had the same problem. He was outside of God's will and couldn't pray to Him for assistance. All he could do was ask to be thrown overboard. Jonah 1:1-12). There are some things Esther is doing right. She is telling Mordecai and his friends to beseech God also, along with her maidens. When we are in trouble and need God's help, we all need to pray for each other and for strength for those in need. This is an extremely brave thing Esther is going to do. She is going to put her life on the line for her people. Her response was "If I perish, I perish." What a brave lady she is.
