True Conservatism Requires Courage: A European Reflection on the Cultural Battle

At a time when the Christian identity of the West is being erased by the machinery of postmodern decay, and our cities no longer resemble the civilizations we inherited, a bold voice rises from Europe with a message that cannot be ignored. Irene González, in her powerful book Saving Europe, makes a clear declaration: the old conservatism is dead. What we need now is a new, radical commitment to truth.

In a video linked to her chapter “The End of Conservatism,” González says what many are too afraid to admit: “When your Christian identity has been taken from you, there is no God, there is no family anymore. You look out onto the street and it’s a neighborhood on the outskirts of Algiers.” This is not an exaggerated metaphor—it is a sobering observation of what happens when faith, family, and tradition are abandoned.

But González doesn’t call for moderation or for merely preserving broken institutions. On the contrary, she argues that true conservatives must identify the roots of civilization and be willing to tear down everything that stands in the way of preserving those roots. “What must be seen is what is the root of civilization to preserve this,” she says, “and everything else, tear it down.”

This is not the passivity of establishment conservatism—it’s a call to arms. It’s a rejection of the notion that we can negotiate with the forces that have dragged our culture into nihilism. True conservatism today must be bold. It must be willing to confront and dismantle the very systems that are erasing faith, distorting the family, and turning life into something increasingly absurd.

In America, we’ve seen this spirit in President Donald J. Trump’s leadership. He dared to confront the globalist elite, to question institutions that no longer serve the people, and to reassert faith, family, and national identity as the pillars of a strong nation. This is precisely the spirit González calls for—not just in Europe, but across the entire Western world.

We can no longer be content with preserving the ruins. We must rebuild, starting from the eternal truths that shaped our civilization. Saving Europe is more than a European warning—it is a rallying cry for every American patriot who refuses to surrender their nation, their values, or their soul.
