About Charles Key and Open Government Initiative, Inc:

My 18 years as an Oklahoma state legislator in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1986 to 1998 and again from 2006 to 2012 showed me that we're in dire need of a big shake-up in how our government works. My time in Oklahoma politics gave me a unique perspective on how legislative bodies actually work, particularly behind the scenes. Serving in the legislature during times when the political winds kept changing, I got an exclusive peek behind the curtain of governance, and the power plays that come with it. No matter who was in charge, Democrats or Republicans, I saw the same worrying patterns: the tug-of-war for power and the corruption that often goes with it. These weren’t just one-off incidents but part of a bigger, more troubling picture that went beyond party ideologies. I realized the real issue was with the nature of political power itself. I’m glad you care enough to learn why our political system has gone off the rails and what can be done to save it!

What if I told you that most of the legislation that you want to see put into law, here in the reddest state in the union, are shut down and never given a hearing.... and this has been happening for decades. This is what happens over and over... you vote someone fantastic into office to do x, y, and z and he or she faces the profound frustration of not being able to get any of their ideas into Oklahoma state law.

From my personal breadth of experience in witnessing and experiencing tragic political bottlenecks, with my own bills getting shut down, I have founded 'Open Government Initiative, Inc.' - to bring greater transparency and a more 'open government' to Oklahoma. It's a journey myself, other former and current Oklahoma legislators, other concerned Oklahoma political activists and leaders, and YOU, the concerned registered voters of Oklahoma will take together.

We'll combine our efforts to get transformative ballot initiatives through their 90-day in-person petition signing phase and then vote into law in an Oklahoma statewide election. As someone who has served in the Oklahoma legislature, I can tell you this is the best way to bring greater transparency to Oklahoma politics. We know the problem, we know the solution. Now let's lock arms and get on board with Open Government Initiative, Inc.'s ballot initiatives.
