Welcome back. The Knights of the Golden Circle may be one of the most important, yet seldom discussed secret societies to have existed on American soil. Their goal; to unite “The Golden Circle” of territories which included all of the southern United States, Mexico, most of northern South America, and every island in the Caribbean, to create one massive kingdom roughly 2,400 miles in diameter. Furthermore, the current narrative history regarding the Knights of the Golden Circle begins in 1854, but is shrouded in mystery. Claims published in the 1860s put forth that this society existed as early as 1834, if not earlier. Yet, while the Knights of the Golden Circle literally almost made it to the presidency of The United States, following the outbreak of The Civil War this secret society disappeared, seemingly persecuted to the point of disbanding. However, theories abound regarding the K.G.C. (as they were commonly known in the 19th century), and we will attempt to sift through these different historical narratives and myths to see what stands out the most. Enjoy!
