Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
We're trying to see our true nature. This means we are learning how to see clearly and objectively exactly what we are. In the deepest sense, not what appears on the surface, not the face we show to the world, and not even this life of ours and the things we identify with, such as our parents, our country, our language, the things we like and dislike. What Tenzin Palmo was reminding us is that as Buddhist practitioners, to develop real wisdom means to see deeply into what we really, really are and dropping anything that does not stand up to that level. Then we live from that, from this state of pure wisdom. This is her teaching to us.
