101

A piebald whitetail deer is a deer with a distinctive coat pattern caused by a genetic condition called leucism, which results in patches of white mixed with normal brown coloring. Unlike albino deer, piebalds usually have normal eye and nose pigmentation.

Key facts about piebald whitetail deer:

Occurs in less than 1% of the whitetail population.

Can range from small white patches to almost entirely white.

Often associated with other physical traits like shortened legs, arched spine, or crooked legs (though not always).

Protected in some areas—check local regulations before harvesting one.
