The Famine Continues, and Food Runs Out (v.1–2):

The famine is still severe in Canaan.

The food from the first trip to Egypt is gone, and Jacob tells his sons to go again.

Judah Takes Responsibility for Benjamin (v.3–10):

Judah reminds Jacob that they cannot return unless Benjamin goes with them, as required by the Egyptian ruler (Joseph).

Jacob hesitates, fearing the loss of another son, but Judah offers himself as a guarantor, pledging his own life for Benjamin’s safety.

Jacob finally agrees, telling them to take gifts and double the money to explain the silver they found in their sacks.

The Brothers Return to Egypt (v.11–17):

The brothers arrive in Egypt and are invited to Joseph’s house for a meal.

They fear they’re being tricked and will be enslaved because of the money found in their sacks.

They explain the situation to Joseph’s steward, who reassures them, saying, “Your God... has given you treasure.”

Reunion with Joseph and Benjamin (v.18–30):

Simeon is released, and the brothers prepare for the feast.

When Joseph sees Benjamin, he is deeply moved and goes to weep in private.

He composes himself and returns to dine with them.

A Meal and Special Favor for Benjamin (v.31–34):

The brothers are seated in birth order, which amazes them.

Benjamin receives five times more food than the others—a test of the brothers’ jealousy.

They eat, drink, and enjoy fellowship with Joseph, still unaware of who he really is.
