Father’s Day weekend, 1969. A six-year-old boy named Dennis Martin darts behind a waist-high brush pile in the Great Smoky Mountains… and five seconds later he’s gone. No scream. No footprints. Nothing but a bright-red T-shirt vanishing into green.
Over the next eleven days 1,400 searchers will claw through ravines, rappel into caves, and trample miles of forest looking for even a button. They find nothing.
Tonight we’re retracing every step of that search— and two other disappearances just as chilling — to ask one brutal question:
How does a child simply disappear from the wilderness in broad daylight, leaving nothing behind?
