Numbers 22 – A spiritist, medium, sorceress and users of divination are to be put to death. 2023

Num 22:7
So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the fees for divination in their hand; and they came to Balaam and repeated Balak's words to him.

Balaam was a "prophet for hire." He would give you the word of some god if you gave him the proper compensation. He apparently had a successful operation in the past. It is likely that Satan had used this man and he may even have been demonically possessed. I read commentators that claim Balaam was actually a man of God. I think they are way off. I think this guy is scum.

Num 22:8
And he said to them, "Spend the night here, and I will bring word back to you as the LORD may speak to me." And the leaders of Moab stayed with Balaam.

I do not know what Balaam was planning on doing that night. I do not believe he is talking about a fasting and prayer session. This reminds me of going to fortune teller and them saying, "You wait right here while I go behind the curtain and turn on my sound effects and eerie music…" It sounds like Balaam has to conjure up something and it might take him until the next day to think of what to say. After all, a diviner's wages are hard-earned dollars.

Num 22:9
Then God came to Balaam and said, "Who are these men with you?"

Whenever Elohim asks a question, He is never seeking information. He asks questions rhetorically. Notice that Balaam did not pray to Elohim or inquire to Him first. Elohim just started speaking to Balam. This is likely the first time Elohim spoke to Balaam. It probably shocked him and scared him to death to actually hear the voice of Elohim.

Num 22:10
And Balaam said to God, "Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent word to me,

Num 22:11
'Behold, there is a people who came out of Egypt and they cover the surface of the land; now come, curse them for me; perhaps I may be able to fight against them, and drive them out.'"

The words of Balaam do not reflect any kind of faithfulness or relationship with Elohim. He did not fall on his face or use any endearing terms of worshiping the Almighty Elohim. Actually, he acts like he must explain some things to Elohim that He does not already know. Once again, this man does not know the Father. He practices divination for money and is evil. He met his fate against Israel in the days of Joshua as mentioned earlier. This is justice because Yahweh says that such people are to be put to death.

Lev. 20:27 ‘Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.’”

Ex. 22:18 “You shall not allow a sorceress to live.
