What Quran said in Surah Al-Imran about The Arrogance of the Disbelievers and Pride of the Self

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.

Brothers, sisters, friends and elders, we welcome you to the 45 episode of the Islamic informative videos based on healing and incidents from the Holy Quran. In this video, we will described:
The Arrogance of the Disbelievers and Pride of the Self

In Surah Aal-e-Imran, verses 173-175, the disease of pride and arrogance is addressed as a significant spiritual ailment that blinds individuals to the truth and distances them from Allah. Pride, or *kibr*, leads a person to believe that they are superior to others, often causing them to dismiss the signs and guidance that Allah has revealed. Arrogance is particularly evident in the disbelievers described in the Surah, who are portrayed as being so consumed by their self-importance that they reject the divine message of Islam, dismissing it as something beneath them. They are not open to accepting the truth because their pride prevents them from acknowledging their own shortcomings and the need for Allah’s guidance. This condition of arrogance is one that not only affects individual hearts but also causes a deep spiritual rift between the person and their Creator, as it leads them to neglect their true purpose of worship and submission.

In the verses mentioned, the disbelievers are described as proud and dismissive of the signs of Allah, despite being shown clear evidence of the truth. Their pride makes them feel self-sufficient, which ultimately leads to their rejection of the message brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Their attitude is rooted in a sense of superiority, as they feel that their own understanding or status is above that of the Prophet or the divine guidance he brings. This spiritual disease is dangerous because it prevents a person from seeking knowledge and humbling themselves before Allah. Arrogance creates a barrier to sincerity and hinders the individual from experiencing true faith and submission to the Creator.

The treatment for the disease of pride and arrogance begins with cultivating humility. Allah commands the believers to humble themselves, recognizing that all their abilities, success, and blessings come from Him alone. Humility involves recognizing one’s inherent weaknesses and limitations, and understanding that no matter how much knowledge or power a person might acquire, they remain in absolute need of Allah. This recognition of dependency is a crucial step in curing arrogance. By submitting to the will of Allah, a person acknowledges their place in the world and surrenders their pride for a greater purpose. Practicing humility, both inwardly and outwardly, helps the believer develop a sense of gratitude, allowing them to reflect on Allah’s countless blessings and the reality of their dependence on Him.

Gratitude, or *shukr*, is another powerful cure for pride. When a believer expresses thankfulness for Allah’s blessings, it becomes a constant reminder that everything they have—be it wealth, status, or even life itself—comes from Allah. This realization counters the feeling of self-sufficiency that arrogance breeds. A grateful heart is one that humbly recognizes Allah’s grace and understands that no accomplishment is achieved without His will. Gratitude transforms the heart, shifting it away from pride and towards a deeper connection with the Creator.

Repentance is also a key element in overcoming arrogance. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged the believers to seek forgiveness for any signs of pride or arrogance. Repentance involves turning to Allah with sincerity, acknowledging one’s faults, and asking for forgiveness. It is through repentance that a person can cleanse their heart from the disease of pride and restore their relationship with Allah. A sincere return to Allah’s guidance, coupled with a commitment to humility and gratitude, helps the believer overcome the negative traits of arrogance and leads them towards spiritual purity.

In conclusion, the disease of pride and arrogance is a dangerous affliction that leads individuals to reject the truth and elevate themselves above others. It creates a barrier between the individual and Allah, hindering their spiritual growth. The cure for this disease lies in the cultivation of humility, the practice of gratitude, and sincere repentance. By humbling oneself before Allah, recognizing His blessings, and seeking forgiveness for pride, the believer can heal from this spiritual ailment and move towards a state of true submission and devotion to their Creator.

With this, we ask for your permission until tomorrow and pray to Allah Almighty to grant us the ability to act on the Quran and Hadith, Amen
