Thunderbolts* Getting Praise from Critics and Audiences | Box Office Still Looks Weak

Thunderbolts* is the latest Marvel movie to hit theaters and the early audience review score is pretty good, but that may not be enough for the film to succeed.

This latest film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MCU, is expected to bring in around $75 million domestically. It’s being reported the budget for Thunderbolts* is $180 million with another $100 million for marketing; that means the movie needs to make at a bare minimum $560 million globally in order to break even. With the low opening weekend that will be a tall order, but not outside the realm of possibility. Many Marvel movies have been suffering a steep second weekend drop with underwhelming word-of-mouth. Perhaps Thunderbolts* could buck the trend and have a strong hold.
