Numbers 12 – Why was Miriam stricken with leprosy? 2023

Num 12:10
But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous.

Miriam rebelled against Elohim's appointed leader and against Elohim. Her pride reigned over her. Her hatred for some woman being a part of her family and her people consumed her. Elohim punished her by striking her with leprosy. Why did He do this? In Scripture, leprosy is an outward manifestation that represents sin. Leprosy was a loathsome disease that was very contagious and incurable. If you possibly had leprosy, you were to take yourself to the High Priest for a diagnosis. If he diagnosed with the disease, they were cast out from the rest of society and left to die. It is an accurate picture of sin (Psalm 38:3-11). Just as only the Father can cure leprosy, only the Father can forgive our sins against Him.
