"We are the World" from Abrakadabra in Cienfuegos-Cuba, to You, with Love | CodePink | TKP
FYI, Youtube turned comments off automatically for this video. So much freedom of speech!
We're all born altruistic human beings. It's just that, along the way, some of us fall prey to the traps of power, wealth, religion and ideology. I tend to think that most TKP club members are still altruistic people who are willing to call it as it is and push back against totalitarian forces. For years I've tried to find advocating groups who reflect my values, who say the inconvenient truth, who stand up for what is right and prove it by constant and consistent actions. And I can finally say that there is no better such organization than Women for Peace (CODEPINK). Wikipedia labels them as being left-wing because in the US we've been trained to look at things as left, right or center instead of right and wrong. This ideological labeling keeps us divided and in a continuous McCarthy-like witch hunt. It is used to prevent social emancipation and improvements. Please rise above ideological barriers and fear of retaliation and support what you feel is right. I trust that you will. Follow CODEPINK and sign their petitions. Support them financially if you can and volunteer. https://www.codepink.org/peacemaker
In the last days of the outgoing Trump administration, then Secretary of State Mike Pompeo added Cuba back onto the list of state sponsors of terrorism, after it had been removed from the list in 2015 by the Obama-Biden administration. After a significant review, the Obama-Biden White House had certified that “(i) the Government of Cuba has not provided any support for international terrorism during the preceding 6-month period; and (ii) the Government of Cuba has provided assurances that it will not support acts of international terrorism in the future.”
Trump’s re-designation of Cuba to the list was purely a political move to please conservative Cuban-Americans. The excuse was that Cuba was purportedly providing safe haven for Colombian insurgents, but these insurgents were in Cuba because of the island’s role in facilitating the historic Peace Accords between the Colombian government and a guerrilla group. Insurgent activities years ago during Colombia’s civil strife does not fit the definition of international terrorism, and the guerilla representatives were in Cuba as part of an internationally recognized process of peace negotiations supported by the United States, Norway, Colombia and other nations.
