Sen. Lisa Murkowski Applauds Trump’s Handling of Border

BALLASY: “I’m wondering what you would regard as his best accomplishment so far in the first 100 days?”
MURKOWSKI: “I think probably the most significant accomplishment is — is what we have seen at the border in terms of the number of crossings. I don’t have the numbers at top of the head, but I think it has been a dramatic reduction in the number of people who were illegally crossing the border. That’s what President Trump ran on and I think he has — he has worked to effectuate that pretty quickly within that first hundred days. Yeah.”
BALLASY: “And the Democrats were saying legislation was needed to solve what was considered at the time a crisis at the border, but it looks like based on the numbers it happened without legislation. You — you agree with that?”
MURKOWSKI: “I — I think — I think — we have long said that we have laws that are — that are on the books when it comes to our borders and our own security, but the will to enforce them perhaps is what has been lacking. And I — I think this is where you see the dramatic difference between the two administrations.”
