On April 18, 2025, a string of armed robberies unfolded across Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Baldwin Park, California, between 1 a.m. and 11 p.m. Among the five targeted locations was a 7-Eleven, where a surveillance video captured an unusual interaction between an armed robber and a cashier. The suspect, dressed in a gray sweatsuit, entered the store, brandished a firearm, and demanded all the money from the cash registers. The cashier complied, handing over the cash without resistance. After receiving the money, the robber said, “Thank you,” and added, “Have a good night, brother,” before fleeing the scene. The polite demeanor of the suspect left the clerk shaken but unharmed, according to police reports.

The Los Angeles Police Department identified the incident as part of a coordinated crime spree involving a group of suspects. Following an investigation, authorities arrested 21-year-old Jacuri Tobias and two minors, aged 15 and 17, in connection with the robberies. The arrests were announced on April 30, 2025.
