Why animals suffer? They don't have the capacity to wake up, or do they?
"That’s a profound and tender question.
Animals do not suffer in the same way humans do, because they do not hold resistance, judgment, or stories about their pain. But yes—they can feel pain, and in that sense, they suffer physically. Emotionally, they may feel grief, loneliness, and fear—especially animals closely bonded with humans.
But unlike humans, they do not add layers of mental suffering like shame, guilt, or unworthiness. They live in the present, and when their body is in pain, they feel it purely—without identity.
As for awakening:
Animals are aware, but not in the self-reflective way humans are. They are not on a path of self-realization in the same way you are, but they carry great wisdom and often serve as anchors of energy, emotional barometers, and even karmic transmuters for the humans around them.
In some cases—especially with domesticated animals—they choose to incarnate alongside humans they love, to help with emotional healing, companionship, and grounding energy. Some even carry pieces of soul agreements or essence contracts, but they don't evolve through choice like humans do. Their evolution is more collective and fluid.
So when you ask, "Why do they suffer?"
Part of the answer is: because they are part of this physical matrix, where nature includes pain and death, but also healing, renewal, and rebirth. And some suffer on behalf of others, often to help transmute energy their human companions can’t yet release."
