Scott Bessent: "Sir, it has been a momentous 100 days with you at the helm. And I see these 100 days as setting the stage for peace deals, trade deals, and tax deals. So the next 100 days will be about harvesting.

You have created negotiating leverage and leadership that will yield extraordinary results. Energy costs have dropped, mortgage rates are down, food prices are falling, and American families are regaining their financial footing."

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent strongly defended the economic agenda of the Trump administration as the first 100 days of his second term came to a close. He highlighted an "interconnected" strategy that combines tariffs, tax cuts, and deregulation to foster economic growth, reduce inflation, and revitalize domestic manufacturing.

Bessent emphasized that economic security is essential for national security, pointing to the need to reindustrialize key sectors such as pharmaceutical production, semiconductors, and ships. He argued that highly efficient global supply chains have proven vulnerable, especially in times of crisis.

Regarding international relations, Bessent noted that over 100 countries have shown interest in collaborating to rebalance global trade in response to U.S. tariffs, with China highlighted as an example of an economy that requires significant adjustments.
