Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doesn’t Rule out 2028 Presidential Bid

BALLASY: “Are you thinking about running for president after the campaign-style video you put out?”
Ocasio-Cortez: “Pardon?”
BALLASY: “You thinking about running for president, or Senate?”
Ocasio-Cortez: “Because of my Instagram posts? (Laughs)”
BALLASY: “No, the video, the campaign-style video. It’s got everybody talking.”
Ocasio-Cortez: “Listen, it’s a video. And frankly, I think what people should be most concerned about is the fact that Republicans are trying to cut Medicaid right now and people’s healthcare is in danger. That’s really what my central focus is.”
BALLASY: “You’re topping — also, you’re topping the polls right now.”
Ocasio-Cortez: “Pardon?”
BALLASY: “You’re topping the polls, so people are — “
Ocasio-Cortez: “For me, this moment isn’t about campaigns or elections or about politics. It’s about making sure people are protected. You’ve got people that are getting locked up for what they — for exercising their First Amendment rights. We’re getting two-year-olds that are getting deported into [inaudible]. We’re getting people that are about to get kicked off of Medicaid. That, to me, is the most important thing.”
