Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt linked the idea to Chinese propaganda ties, calling for support of American manufacturing. However, Amazon quickly denied the claim, clarifying the idea was informally discussed for its budget “Amazon Haul” platform and never approved. President Trump later defused the situation, praising Jeff Bezos after a private phone call. Amazon confirmed no tariff display would occur on its main site.
