college 1st year students
You can spot them from a mile away. Always a little too early for class, walking around with printed timetables, and asking seniors where to find the library—even though it’s literally right behind them. They still call professors "sir" and "ma’am" like it’s school, take lecture notes like it’s the last page of the Bible, and think 75% attendance is a life-or-death situation.
They're excited about every little thing – from fresher’s parties to joining every club they can find (even the gardening one, which no one has touched in 5 years). You’ll hear them using words like “engineering is fun” or “I’ll study daily” – the kind of optimism that slowly fades by second year.
They still haven’t mastered the art of bunking, or how to survive on just chai and maggi. They dress like they planned it for days – polished shoes, ironed shirts – and they still carry bags stuffed with all the textbooks they think they’ll actually read. Cute, but not your types. You’ve been through the drill. You know the real college starts after you stop trying so hard.
