2 Vehicle Accident, 1 Catches Fire, LIVINGSTON, April 29, 2025 - At approximately 8:35 pm on April 29, 2025, a gray 2012 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Todd Ethan Brown, 51, of Spring, was south-bound on US-59 (just south of the Livingston City Limits). Brown slowed to make a left turn into a crossover and was slammed from behind by a black 2002 Ford Mustang driven by Kayla Anona Small, 29, of Freeport. The impact caused the Mustang to surge past the truck as the Mustang left the pavement to the right and went into the weeds where it caught fire. The pickup spun around and came to rest on the left shoulder facing north. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Officers with Livingston Police Department, and Troopers Terrence Dickens and Damon Zarate with The Texas Highway Patrol. Kayla Small exited her vehicle and sat down on the shoulder of the road as Firemen extinguished the fire in her engine compartment. Small was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital as a precautionary measure. Todd Brown was physically okay. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Small's vehicle was recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston. Brown's vehicle was driven from the scene. No citations have been issued yet as this accident remains under investigation by The Texas Highway Patrol.
