We study this chapter every year on Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement. We go over this chapter on that day as well as Isaiah 58, which also focuses on Yom Kippur. This holiday (Feast Day) is celebrated on the tenth day of the seventh month. The word atonement means "to cover up." This is the highest holy day of the year and must be treated as such.

The Day of Atonement reveals Messiah as our Great High Priest, going into the Holy of Holies for us. (Heb. 9:11-12).

It has been stated by some that we should not celebrate this great Feast of our Heavenly Father. He commands us to celebrate it throughout the generations (Lev. 23:26-32). Even Paul celebrated it later in his life (Acts 27:9).

The Day of Atonement is a time to reflect on two things. 1. We are to reflect on our sin and how we have been in offense to Elohim and His perfect ways. 2. We reflect on Yeshua as our High Priest and the sacrifice He had to make for our redemption because of our sin.
