AOC in 2023: "Biden should ignore the court ruling"

"When you heard the news this afternoon a couple of hours ago, what did you think?

Well, you know, I think rulings like this one—and I believe we’ve seen similar actions from the FDA as well as from activity in Congress—are something we’ve been preparing for and anticipating, given the egregious overreaches by members of the judiciary appointed by a far-right Republican Party whose long-standing goal has been to pack the courts with partisan judges, often underqualified or entirely unqualified for their role. So, I believe there has been some thought given to this.

Senator Ron Wyden has already issued statements, for example, advising what we should do in a situation like this, and I agree with him—which is that I believe the Biden administration should ignore this ruling.

I think the courts rely on the legitimacy of their rulings, and what they are currently doing is engaging in an unprecedented and dramatic erosion of that legitimacy. It is the justices themselves—through the deeply partisan and unfounded nature of these rulings—who are undermining their own authority.

So, you're saying the Biden administration should have ignored this court, but what does that actually mean in practice?

You know, I think the interesting thing about a court ruling is that it depends on enforcement, and it’s up to the Biden administration to decide whether or not to enforce such a ruling."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has expressed her support for judicial rulings that block executive orders issued by President Donald Trump. However, in 2023, she urged the Biden administration to ignore certain court decisions she considers illegitimate, suggesting that the executive branch is not obligated to enforce rulings that, according to her, erode the legitimacy of the judiciary. AOC's views are based on what suits her far-left ideology. It is convenient for her to support all judges who block President Trump's executive orders with the sole purpose of undermining the administration, regardless of whether those blocks negatively impact American citizens. This kind of behavior is typical of far-left politicians, whose goal is never to serve the people.
