Sharpe Way Radio # 245: No Phones in New York Schools? 📵📚 WYSL Radio at 1pm.

On today’s LIVE call-in radio show on WYSL, we’re diving deep into New York State’s new proposed cell phone ban in public schools. As part of a “bell-to-bell” distraction-free learning policy, the proposal would restrict student access to phones during school hours and is tied to $13.5 million in state funding. But is this the right move? Should this be a state-level mandate or a local Board of Education decision? And why is it being introduced in the budget instead of as a standalone law or education policy?

We’ll unpack the implications, question the government overreach, and consider whether this improves learning or limits student freedom. I’ll also share my ideas for New York education reform, and take LIVE callers to weigh in.
