Canada: Carney’s Liberals Win Election – Trump Effect Hurts Conservatives

Mark Carney’s Liberals have officially won the 2025 Canadian election, according to CBC.
They secured 167 seats, just five short of the 172 needed for a majority government.
The Conservatives, led by Pierre Poilievre, were ahead in polls but fell short at the ballot box.
Analysts blame the "Trump effect," as recent anti-Canada remarks by Donald Trump may have driven voters away from Poilievre.
The Liberals won with 38.2% of the vote, while the Conservatives followed with 33.7%.
Carney, new to politics but a former central banker, is expected to lead a minority government.
Coalition negotiations are likely to begin in the coming days.
