HOST: “Latest ABC News/’Washington Post’ and Ipsos poll shows 53 percent of Americans disapprove of President Trump’s handling of immigration. Plurality, 48 percent say President Trump is going too far in deporting undocumented immigrants. What’s your response to that?”
HOMAN: “Look, I’m not running a popularity contest, I’m enforcing the laws. And by securing the border — like I said this morning, we have the most secure border in the history of the nation today. And like I say, crossings are down 96, 97 percent depending on what week you look at. And like I said this morning, secure border saves lives. No one wants to talk about that. Because in the last four years, we had a 600 percent increase in sex trafficking. You had over 400 people on terrorist watch lists that crossed that southern border. You had a quarter million Americans dying from Fentanyl coming across that border. We’re saving lives every day. And that’s not the story that gets out. So a lot of this polling has to do with the misreporting by much of the media out there. Even the border wall, everybody attacks the border wall. But here’s what they don’t talk about the border wall. Every place a border barrier went up, illegal immigration has decreased, illegal drug flow has decreased, which saves lives. But most importantly, the most vulnerable, the women and children, can’t get over a wall, which means they’re going to a place where there’s not a wall. And that’s where Border Patrol apprehend them and take care of the humanitarian needs first. President Trump’s policies are saving lives by the thousands. And that’s something the American — American people don’t hear enough about. And I think — I think it would turn those polls around if they heard the truth.”
