Senator Marco Rubio Torches Fake News About Deportations of Citizen Children

In yet another example of the liberal media attacking responsible immigration policies, Senator Marco Rubio stepped up to expose the misinformation spread by The Washington Post. The outlet claimed that three American citizen children were deported along with their mothers, including a four-year-old battling late-stage cancer who was allegedly sent away without medication or access to medical care. However, as Rubio firmly explained, this headline is completely false and deliberately misleading.

Rubio emphasized that in the United States, everyone—citizens and non-citizens—has the right to due process. However, he reminded the public of a fundamental truth: immigration laws are clear. If someone is in the country illegally, they have no right to remain. The law requires their removal. This legal clarity has been eroded over the past two decades by leftist narratives granting automatic residency rights to anyone who crosses our borders illegally.

Addressing the media-fueled outrage, Rubio explained that the three minors, aged four, seven, and two, were not deported. Their mothers, who were unlawfully in the country, were the ones deported. The citizen children voluntarily accompanied their mothers. In fact, as American citizens, these children have the full right to return to the U.S. at any time if a legal guardian—such as their father or another relative—assumes their care.

Rubio slammed the media’s sensationalism that falsely painted a picture of ICE agents violently breaking down doors to seize toddlers. Nothing of the sort occurred. There were no forced removals of citizen minors. The simple reality is that illegal alien mothers were deported, and their children traveled with them. That’s it.

This type of media manipulation is not new, but it is particularly dangerous at a time when border enforcement is finally starting to yield positive results. Thanks to tough policies, illegal crossings at the southern U.S. border have significantly declined, as has the movement through critical points like Panama’s Darién Gap. Restoring the rule of law in immigration benefits not just the United States but also the countries impacted by illegal migrant flows.

Rubio reminded everyone that while Democrats continue to play emotional games and promote false headlines to attack an administration working to enforce the law, the American people demand sovereignty, security, and respect for legal processes. And leaders like Rubio will continue defending those principles against media lies.
