Planting Raspberries - Growing Our Own Food

Today, we are working on transforming the tired garden into Berry Hill. Raspberries are our choice for this part of Berry Hill. The hill is mostly thick clay that is not well suited for growing, so we covered most of the hill with sunflowers to break up the clay and red clover to help build more topsoil. This fall, we will cover the entire hill in a heavy layer of leaf mulch to provide more organic matter for soil growth. Not much we can do about the excessive amounts of aluminum, barium, strontium, and surfactants raining down from above.
