April 17, 2025: a study published in #theAstrophysicalJournalLetters has caused much discussion. It concerns an #exoplanet that gravitates around a #RedDwarf. #K218b is massive, with a mass almost 9 times the #Earth and a diameter about 2.6 times larger. The planet is located in the #ConstellationLeo, about 124 light-years from us, and gravitates in the #TemperateZone of its star. Using the #MIRI instrument of the #JamesWebbSpaceTelescope, #OrganicMolecules of #DimethylSulfide and #DimethylDisulfide were found. These molecules, on Earth, are only a biological origin, mostly created by certain types of #phytoplankton. It is not known whether in such a different world they could have an inorganic origin. Certainly it remains a world to be observed in the future, to clarify doubts about these two possible #Biological #signatures. #Short #4K #60FPS via #AI.
