The Second Epistle of Peter is traditionally attributed to the Apostle Peter, and is addressed to the same network of churches as his first letter in the Roman provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, located in modern-day Turkey. It was probably sent from Rome. The exact date of composition is debated among scholars, but it’s thought to have been written between 65 and 68 AD, shortly before Peter's death. The letter's purpose was to encourage believers to grow in their faith and to warn against false teachers who were misleading Christians with distorted theology and lifestyles.
