Utilizing the “In-the-Front & Out-the-Back” Concept v. Pressing Defenses.

One of the key aspects of our press offense was successfully passing the ball to our middle man, and he was to catch, square, & pass opposite - down court if possible. So, if the pass to the middle man came from the left-side of the midline, he was to square-up, & pass the ball down court to the right-side of the midline.

This action forces the defense to sprint from one side of the court to the other, hence opening-up the weak side. We DID NOT want to keep the ball on one side of the court & we DID NOT want to keep the ball on the sidelines for longer than 1-second. We played at such a methodical pace, almost all of our opponents pressed us, therefore, we practiced this “In the Front & Out the Back” action nearly every practice session.
