📝 LYRICS:
Down by the bayou, the cannons roared,
Jackson stood tall with his mighty sword.
Men from the fields, the docks, the land,
Stood side by side to make their stand.
We don’t bow, we don’t run,
Louisiana boys loadin’ up their guns!
Redcoats comin’, but they’ll soon see,
Ain’t no takin’ this land from the free!
Through the fog and the cypress trees,
Bullets sang in the midnight breeze.
Barefoot fighters, rough and mean,
Ain’t no crown gonna kill this dream.
They marched in tight, all dressed in red,
But left that swamp stone-cold dead.
Old Hickory roared, "Hold the line!"
And we cut 'em down like Georgia pine.
Smoke and fire filled the air,
The redcoats broke, they had no prayer.
Through the mud, through the fight,
We sent ‘em runnin’ in the night.
We don’t bow, we don’t run,
Louisiana boys loadin’ up their guns!
Redcoats comin’, but they’ll soon see,
Ain’t no takin’ this land from the free!
Smoke still lingers on the battlefield,
But the South stood strong, and we never kneeled.
