Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Well, some of us might dispute this and say, wait a minute, there is a lot of happiness. Not everything in the world is a form of suffering. Trungu Rinpoche is offering a deeper look. We may think things are making us happy, but the very fact that they are impermanent, that the happy sensation will cease, that ultimately we will have to face losing loved ones or getting sick ourselves, or even giving up and losing our own life, that everything comes to an end and that happiness is a temporary state unless it becomes. A permanent realization, in which case we have enlightenment or Nirvana, which is considered to be an unchanging state of bliss and insight. So we know what we're trying to do, and Trango Rinpoche is reminding us here that essentially what happens in the world is not reliable. And will inevitably let us down on some level.
