Global National: April 25, 2025 | Judge declares mistrial in Hockey Canada sex assault case

There’s been a stunning development at the sexual assault trial of five former world junior hockey players. The judge in a London, Ont., courtroom declared a mistrial and the jury was released. Jeff Semple has been covering the twists and turns of the trial all week and has more in this report.

The Canadian response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats and tariffs has become a primary issue in the election. The main party leaders addressed it again on Friday as they make their final pitches to voters. Mackenzie Gray has more on Liberal campaign.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was out making final pitches in Saskatchewan and Alberta today — two provinces that have long been blue strongholds.
