The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a deadly IED attack on a Pakistani military vehicle in the Margat area near Quetta on Friday. The roadside blast, reportedly targeting a bomb disposal squad vehicle, killed ten soldiers and injured three others.

Initially, police confirmed four deaths, but a statement by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch later claimed that "all 10 soldiers on board were killed" and that the convoy vehicle was completely destroyed. The BLA also released a video of the attack, which took place in a remote, mountainous region.

This is the latest in a string of violent incidents in Balochistan. In March, the BLA was behind the hijacking of the Jaffar Express train, which left around 60 dead—marking another major escalation in the Baloch insurgency against the Pakistani state.

The use of remote-controlled IEDs continues to be a favored tactic of Baloch separatist groups, underscoring the persistent and deadly nature of the conflict in the restive region.
