Trump Clashes With Zelensky For Refusing to Accept Russia’s Control of Crimea | Spotlight | N18G

US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have clashed once again. This time, it is over Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. Trump has criticised Zelensky’s refusal to recognise Russian control of the region. Trump argued Crimea was lost years ago and is not even a point of discussion. Media reports cite an unconfirmed US peace proposal which may recognise Russia’s claim to Crimea, freeze territorial lines, block Ukraine’s NATO membership, and allow Russia to retain around 20% of Ukrainian territory. Hitting back at the fresh US criticism, Zelensky posted a 2018 declaration by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo rejecting Russia’s claims.
