Democrats' New Scheme To Bully El Salvador Into Sending MS-13 Gangbanger Garcia Back To The U.S.

Posted • April 25, 2025: When you get right down to it, Democrats are really just your garden variety bullies. They think they will somehow get their way if they jump up and down, yell and scream like toddlers, or threaten to cancel you. And often, it works. But since Donald Trump became president, their bullying tactics have worked on fewer and fewer people. Now, in their latest crusade to get Democrat poster-boy and MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego-Garcia sent back to the U.S, they think they just might have a way to bully El Salvador, a foreign country that doesn't have to give a rip what they think or want. By hurting the people. On Wednesday, during Semafor's World Economy Summit, Garcia's new best friend, Democrat Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, told the audience to “Vote with your feet,” and that “Costa Rica is a beautiful place: You don’t have to go to El Salvador.”

Van Hollen was referring to El Salvador's budding tourism industry, and because they will not cave to Democrats and send Garcia back to the U.S., Van Hollen was also not only telling the Semafor audience, but the rest of the world, to kneecap it. Once known as "the murder capital of the world," El Salvador was overrun by gang activity. In 2015, the murder rate was 106 per 100,000 inhabitants. In 2024, that rate plummeted to just 1.9 per 100,000 inhabitants. That amazing turnaround is attributed to the election in 2019 of Nayib Bukele. When he took office in June of 2019, Bukele launched the "Territorial Control Plan." The Plan deployed police and soldiers to the most gang-ridden areas. But it was not without some controversial aspects, which included the suspension of certain constitutional rights. But as a result, the initiative led to over 85,000 arrests. […]

Wanting to deliver a sucker punch to the gut of El Salvador's growing tourism economy is a cruel but not surprising move for Van Hollen and his ilk. Democrats have long supported so-called "Extraction Migration" policies, which pull young, able-bodied workers out of poor countries, often Central American countries, to work as laborers and other low-skilled workers. Never mind the fact that it decimates the economies of the countries from which they are pulled, and takes jobs away from Americans. Democrat Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has also jumped on the punish El Salvador bandwagon, saying that the state would review any government contracts, investments, or trade with El Salvador. (…)
