Yeshua feeding the 5000, more like 15000 as we have noted.
Yeshua walk on water out to the boat with the Disciples onboard. The account in MAT 14 has Peter getting out of the boat.
Yeshua announces that HE was the bread that came down from Heaven. HE was and is the Bread of life.
This is MY body, John uses the term ‘flesh’ (sarx) rather than ‘body’ (sōma), found most often in the NT.Interesting that sarx σάρξ = flesh is the word John uses in JOH 1:14, The Word became flesh (sarx) and made HIS dwelling among us.Yeshua HIMself is the One Who gives HIS flesh: HIS sacrifice is voluntary (HEB 12:2, for the joy set before HIM).
Yeshua HIMself is the One Who gives HIS flesh: HIS sacrifice is voluntary (HEB 12:2, for the joy set before HIM…). And the Father was pleased to give HIS One and Only son. LUK 12:32, where Yeshua tells HIS disciples, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” This verse emphasizes GOD’s willingness and delight in providing blessings and HIS love for HIS children.
Yeshua uses the contrast between the OT manna, which the Jews so greatly revered and wanted to use as a criterion for assessing Yeshua (Vs’s 30–31), and the true bread from Heaven, which alone enables the one who feeds on it (the word of GOD the relationship with Yeshua) to live forever.
In Catholic theology, there is something called trans- substantiation. It is the teaching that during the LORD’s Supper, the bread and wine are almost ritualistically transformed into the body and blood of Yeshua.
This was a bold statement that came with a huge risk of being misunderstood. Yet obviously a statement HE needed to make. Later Christ-followers would be falsely accused of holding meals where human flesh and blood was served. Yeshua expected HIS disciples to understand HIS “body (flesh) and blood” speech and accept it.
LEV 17:11-12, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.”
The wine and bread DO NOT become HIS literal body and blood. That would be repulsive, as it was to many when Yeshua said it, because they took it literally.
Through our participation in the LORD’s Supper, we must fully understand and receive all HE IS, by faith. By faith in HIM, the believer partakes of the so great a Salvation, which is found in Yeshua alone and is offered freely to all. HIS flesh (body) and HIS blood, meaning Yeshua HIMself is the Only thing that can bring a human being to eternal life in Heaven.
