Homicide Detective Kit McKitrick is going on a second date with her friend , psychologist Sam Reeves , taking their dogs on a trail walk. The date goes quickly south when Kit and Sam find a dead , mutilated body on their trail walk.
Quickly identified as Councillor Brooks Munro , Kit and her colleague Connor , aided by psychologist Sam start to investigate the murder. It soon becomes apparent that Brooks Munro was living above his means and that he was blackmailing a number of wealthy individuals. Brooks kept a list of people that he was blackmailing , their secrets and how much they were paying him.
