Château des Amerois and the "Mothers of Darkness"

The Château des Amerois is a 19th-century neo-Gothic chateau located in the Ardennes forest. The chateau is steeped in local folklore and mystery. It has been associated with legends of hidden treasures and ghostly apparitions. More darkly, from the mid-20th century, it gained a reputation as the alleged sanctuary of a secretive coven known as the “Mothers of Darkness,” who were said to conduct esoteric and occult rituals in hidden chambers beneath the castle. These stories have fuelled rumours of sinister activities linked to elite circles, especially during the 1990s amid scandals involving criminal networks in Belgium.
